The Majority & I
A short animation about the Herd Phenomenon, which demonstrates the dangers in acting blindly, "just like everyone else". This could encourage children to trust their instincts and develop an independent thought. The animation is based on fables by Ivan Krylov, which speak about:
- Social belonging and a strong desire to be like everyone else without thinking about the cost or risk.
- Religious affiliation which neutralizes independent thinking.
- Intellectuals who as a group are engaged in cultivating their wisdom, but are actually blind to the reality around.
Each part of the animation can be interpreted differently. The fables are accompanied by a butterfly which represents independence and freedom.
